Charity Care
Waived (unbilled) charges - at standard rates - for patients who were determined not to have an ability to pay based on our charity care guidelines.
Bad Debt
Difference between billed charges and payments received from patients who were determined to have the ability to pay based on our charity care guidelines and/or by their insurance plans.
Uncompensated Care (really better described as under-compensated care)
Equal to the cost of providing care (cost: charge ratio as calculated on our Medicare cost report) less payments received from
Medicare and Medicaid.
Community Benefit definitions
- Contribution to Community (as referred to in Annual Report) is the Sub-Total Bad Debt, Charity and Community Benefit
- Charity and Uncompensated ( as referred to in Annual Report) is the Sub-Total Bad Debt & Charity
